    • On March 27th, 32 Yew Chung International School of Beijing students in Years 4-6 took part in the Junior International Schools Athletic Conference (JISAC) at Beijing International Bilingual Academy (BIBA). 10 teams of YCIS Beijing Scorpions faced-off against student-athletes from across the city. Harrow International School of Beijing, Tsinghua International School (THIS), Daystar Academy, The International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB), the Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB), Hope International School (HIS), and of course BIBA all fielded teams for the tournament.

Our group of 10 teams of YCIS Scorpions was made up of one U9 girls team, two U9 boys teams, three U11 girls teams and four U11 boys team. All of our student-athletes played hard, with Ron Hwang (Y6), Carina Leung (Y6), Jenny Yu (Y6) and Joey Zhang (Y5) emerging as our star players. And our U11 girls lead the pack! Two of our U11 girls teams went undefeated during the tournament, bringing home a first and a second place victory for YCIS Beijing!

Mr Casey Fanning, who accompanied the teams with P.E. coach Ms Leslie Hou, commented:“The tournament was a fantastic experience for our student-athletes. Our U11 girls teams in particular really delivered. They played so well against stiff competition and were not intimidated by the fast-paced competitive play, but never forgot the spirit of sportsmanship.

They were gracious winners and I think this is a great example of one of the benefits of our commitment to Character Education. We were very impressed with how all of our students carried themselves on and off the court. We are definitely looking forward to future tournaments, and victories!”

      Congratulations to our Scorpions!
