      YCYW Education is proud to award scholarships to current and prospective students every year. Through its scholarships, YCYW Education endeavours to reward achievement and recognises students' motivation to succeed.

       

      The Yew Chung Yew Wah Scholarship Programme is a merit-based award that acknowledges the highest level of academic achievement, leadership and service. It targets highly motivated and talented students from around the world who can benefit from bilingual international education with a strong creative element.

       

       

      A Yew Chung Yew Wah scholar is committed to the pursuit of excellence and honouring the vision and values of the school. The candidate will show high commitment to campus life with demonstrable leadership and mentoring skills.

      Awardee: YCIS Years 7-13 students | YWIES Grades 7-13 students
      Amount: 25%-50%

    Eligibility

    Category A: Art & Design/ Music/ Performing Arts/ Sports

    • EE (Year 6)/ A (Years 7-11) or above or 6 or above (IB) in applied field/ related field
    • DA (Year 6)/ C (Years 7-11) or above or 4 or above (IB) in other subjects
    • Achieved high effort grade on annual report card
    • Demonstrated YCYW core values
    • Participated in relevant external clubs or associations
    • Presented relevant subject awards/certificates
    • High achiever in relevant field (near Grade 8 for Music, starter player for sports, etc.)
    • Demonstrated excellent understanding in relevant field
    • Took part in relevant internal Co-Curricular activities/ Team/ Orchestra, etc.
    • Acted as role model and motivated peers in relevant subject

    Category B: Mathematics/ Science/ Humanities/ Language

    • EE (Year 6)/ A (Years 7-11) or above or 6 or above (IB) in applied field
    • DA (Year 6)/ C (Years 7-11) or above or 4 or above (IB) in other subjects
    • Achieved high effort grades on annual report card
    • Demonstrated YCYW core values
    • Participated in competition of relevant subject
    • Presented relevant subject awards/certificates
    • Demonstrated excellent understanding in relevant field
    • Took part in relevant extra-curricular activities
    • Acted as role model and motivated peers in relevant subject

    Category C: School & Community Service

    • Demonstrated leadership in any school/ extra-curricular activities
    • Active in community services
    • DA (Year 6)/ C or above (Years 7-11) or at least 4 (IB), for all subjects
    • Achieved high effort grades on annual report card
    • Demonstrated YCYW core values
    • Participated in and organised external and internal volunteering/service activities
    • Role model in the YCYW Learning Communities
    • Proactively engaged with the community

      You can apply for multiple scholarships in one application.

       

      Upon completing the online application form, students will also need to submit the following supporting documents to qualify. Further assessment will be carried out in February and shortlisted students will be notified by early March for the next phase of the scholarship application.

       

    General Documents

    • Nomination letter
    • Personal statement
    • Copy of previous transcripts
    • Two reflective essays
    • One Referee Evaluation Form
    • One letter of reference
    • Copy of relevant awards/ certificates

    Below list is applicable to Yew Chung Yew Wah Subject & Talent Award scholarship category:

    • Portfolio of at least 8 art pieces (must include a personal piece and a school piece)
    • Music examination result (at least Grade 5 depending on the applicant's age)
    • A 3-minute recording of a music piece of the applicant's own choice
    • A 3-minute recording of drama excerpts of the applicant's own choice
    • Coach evaluation
    • Video evidence of skills in relevant sport
    • Video highlights of a sporting competition (external or internal) from previous academic year
    • Portfolio of volunteering services
    • Recommendation letter from previous events' organisers/ attendees

    Selection Criteria

    To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, applicants must meet the criteria outlined. Selection criteria will inform and guide all decisions made by the Selection Panel. Applicants are required to meet all essential criteria in order to qualify for a scholarship award.

     

    The overall weighting of 60/40 percent for Essential/ Desirable criteria will be common to all schools. Each school will set individual thresholds to determine the baseline of each scholarship amount to be awarded.

     

     

    External applicants will be required to take an entry examination to demonstrate their academic level.
