At Yew Chung International School of Beijing, we offer an exciting range of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) for K3 to Y13 students, run by various professional teachers and sports coaches.
We have two rounds of CCAs per year. All clubs are run on a first-come-first-served basis, each lasting 12 weeks at a time. Ensuring children have many opportunities to be active and exercise is a crucial ethos at YCIS, and we encourage them to take part in CCAs throughout the year.
These Co-Curricular activities are held from Monday to Thursday, with CCA buses available for students enrolled in school bus services, and students can choose one or multiple days, depending on their interests. Some activities are free, while others may have a fee attached to them. CCAs are run by both teachers and outside vendors. The activities include: Homework Club, Lego Club, Minecraft, Kung Fu, Tennis, Hip-hop Dancing, Basketball, Science Activities, Magic Shows, Baking, Calligraphy, and many more.
We believe that involvement in clubs and organisations is as essential as what students do in the classroom. Our diverse and exciting Sports Programme is integral to life at YCIS Beijing. All students are encouraged to take full advantage of our wide-ranging programme, which offers opportunities to train and compete in various sports.
Our core sports of basketball, football and volleyball run over three seasons, meaning pupils can be involved in all three if they wish! Pupils competing in these sports will have the opportunity to work hard, make friends, develop their teamwork and communication skills, and compete in games all over Beijing and China!
Teaching staff are always on the lookout for new areas in which to generate student interest. If students wish to try an activity not currently available, all they need do is ask, and it soon could be.
Our students compete in various sporting disciplines by participating in events organised by ISAC (International Schools Athletic Conference) and ACAMIS (Association of China and Mongolia International Schools). The events take students to major cities in China to compete in sports such as basketball, golf, volleyball, soccer, badminton and swimming. These experiences support our Physical Education programme, which exposes students to the skills of each discipline.
At YCIS Beijing, we provide exciting extracurricular arts activities. Students can take a CCA that suits their interests and skills. Our programme changes annually to serve our students' interests, and we ensure that what we deliver is of the highest standard. In Primary, we offer opportunities such as the following:
Our annual Performing Arts Concerts are a collaborative experience allowing students from all years in Secondary to connect and experience the thrills of performance. Dance, drama and music disciplines take centre stage, but students also learn backstage craft and the logistics of performing. Students learn to assume responsibility as they help younger ones meet the performance requirements. Other opportunities in Secondary School are:
