Yew Chung International School of Beijing is excited to be welcoming several new members of staff to the team this year. This week, the campus sprung back into life with new and old faces as meetings, inductions and activities took place around the school.
For several of our teachers, it is their first time living in Beijing and all week support staff have been busy helping them settle in – from meeting them at the airport and showing them to their accommodation, to providing info sessions on local regulation, tours of local medical clinics and even showing them to Ikea! Alongside, staff have received child protection training, curriculum inductions and IT training on campus.
New Primary teachers are excited to start lesson planning for our innovative open plan Learning Communities, whose layout and spaces broaden the scope of what’s possible in a traditional classroom. Meanwhile ECE teachers will be benefitting from the newly renovated K4 – Year 2 Learning Community, which occupies two levels in Building G and offers direct access to Honglingjing Park. Finishing touches are being made to this and general maintenance work around the school before students are welcomed through our gates on Monday 20th August.
Among our new members of staff is, of course, Co-Principal Dr Timothy Gray. Dr Gray has already received inductions at the Foundation’s Head Office in Hong Kong, and is now on the ground in Beijing preparing for the beginning of an important school year.
Families will have an opportunity to meet all new staff at the Welcome BBQ on Friday 14th September. In the meantime, we are looking forward to welcoming all staff and students safely back into school over the coming weeks.
