The summer has once again been lit up by a fantastic set of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results. Students, parents and teachers at Yew Chung International School of Beijing are celebrating secured university offers and some outstanding personal achievements from our class of 2018.
For the 11th year in a row, our graduates have achieved a 100% pass rate. Every single student achieved a higher mark than the global average of 29.78 points out of 45, and two of our students, Vani Gupta and Annie Ding, achieved an extraordinary 43 out of 45 points. Vani will be starting at the University of British Columbia in the autumn to read Behavioural Neuroscience, and Annie Ding will be studying Fine Art at Rhode Island School of Design. Both girls have been awarded substantial merit scholarships.
We are delighted to announce that the average score for this year’s results was 35.8. It is also testament to the strength of our bilingual programme (which begins in ECE), that more than half of our students achieved a bilingual diploma.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the International Baccalaureate. With 165,000 students taking the programme from 2,799 schools this year, its popularity continues to grow. Papers were taken in 75 languages, positioning the IB Diploma Programme as the internationally recognised examination board for a generation of future leaders in a globalised world.
Our warmest congratulations to this year’s cohort who leave the school with a shimmering set of results, ready to embark on exciting new adventures.
