Classroom debate is a tried and true learning exercise that instils in students critical thinking, reasoning, and global awareness skills, key pieces to the education that the Yew Chung International School of Beijing offers. Jon Mellen, our Global Politics teacher, recently contributed to a piece on how to effectively foster in-class debates for City Weekend Parents and Kids, explaining that despite the prevalence of volatile international issues (think Trump, Brexit, and more), debate remains a valuable exercise for student learning.
