On February 24, YCIS Beijing’s IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) Music students once again performed in their annual IGCSE Recital, delighting parents, students and teachers alike. Our Music students showcased their amazing talents by performing a wide variety of pieces and acts which they had been diligently preparing throughout this academic year.
The audience were treated to solo, full orchestral, and jazz performances ranging from modern pop to classical compositions, interspersed with standout performances from the IGCSE Drama students throughout the show. Highlights of the event included a flawless rendition of “Let it Go” by our string quartet and the always welcome “月亮代表我的心” (The Moon Represents My Heart) performed by Chloe Sandifer-Stech and Sofia Liu. A very special mention for Rachel Cho, Sophia Liu and Yi Zhao for their wonderfully moving individual original compositions.
All performances perfectly encapsulate the goal of the IGCSE programme which is to develop and sharpen the unique skills of our students so that they may be fully prepared for their final two years of school with the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma programme. As demonstrated by this month’s performance, YCIS Beijing’s IGCSE students are well on their way to becoming not only capable Upper Secondary students but perhaps also one day, globally accomplished musicians.
