At Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) we have an In-School Individual Instrument Programme (IIIP). We created this programme to ensure all of our students have the option to enrich their studies and lives with the benefits of musical education beyond our Years 1-3 violin programme. Amongst the many positives of our triple ‘I’ programme we’d like to highlight the following ‘triple A’ benefits: accreditation, access and affordability.
AccreditedIIIP gives students an opportunity to take individual lessons from over 10 accredited, specialised music teachers, each holding ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) qualifications to teach music internationally. In addition, due to the quality of instruction offered through our IIIP programme, students are able to apply IIIP studies towards future university credits.
AccessibleIIIP lessons are accessible because they enable students to incorporate the study of music into their weekly school schedule, eliminating the time pressures presented by taking after-school music courses.IIIP also provides students access to a broad range of instruments to choose from for their musical studies. Both Western and Chinese instruments are offered. Some of the instruments currently available to study through the programme include: piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, drums, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussions, guzheng, erhu, dizi, yangquin, and pipa. Singing lessons are also available.
AffordableBecause IIIP lessons are offered during school hours, YCIS Beijing families can take advantage of instructors’ off-peak rates. Every spring, our IIIP students showcase their talent and hard work to the community at the Annual IIIP Recital. This year, it was no different with our IIIP Recital taking place on Saturday, 27 April.
YCIS Beijing is proud to support students in enriching their educational journey with the study of music. For more information about our IIIP you can email iiip@bj.ycef.com.
