At Yew Chung International School of Beijing we offer a range of services intended to make life simpler, safer and healthier for our students and parents. We take care of site safety and security, medical provision, meals, transportation and uniform so that students can concentrate on school life and parents can be assured that their children are in good hands during the day.
Health and Safety
On-site healthcare is provided by two full-time nurses who are certified to conduct first aid and handle minor injuries and illnesses. In cases of emergency, parents are contacted immediately.
Our school is fitted with PM 2.5 filtration throughout so that students and staff can enjoy safe levels of AQI. We have AQI monitors situated across the campus that parents are able to check remotely in real-time. To read more about our AQI policy, click here.
We also provide 24-hour on-site security guards, and all visitors to the school are required to register at the gate. Parents can rest assured that their children are in safe hands all day, every day.
We have a wide-ranging and daily-changing menu of healthy, balanced food provided by leading specialist caterers Chartwells.
Chartwells caters for more than 50 schools in China and in over 50 countries worldwide. Their weekly menu is reviewed by a nutritionist to ensure that meals are well-balanced and contain necessary carbohydrates, proteins, fibres and vitamins. They have a rigorous commitment to food health and hygiene, and never cook with nuts, nut oils, MSG, artificial flavourings or colourings. You can view one of Chartwell’s sample menus here.
Students are also welcome to bring their own lunch – and heat it up in the cafeteria if they wish.
Parents are welcome to drop children off by car in the mornings. We also provide an extensive bus service throughout Beijing for children aged three and up. We have Ayis on board the buses who are there to assist the younger children and ensure all our students feel comfortable and happy on their way to school.
Our fleet of buses is brand new as of June 2018. Every bus is fitted with PM 2.5 air filters and other safety features. To read more about the new school buses, click here.
Our school uniform is a distinguishing feature of YCIS Beijing. We believe that wearing a school uniform helps unite children, develops their self-confidence, and builds a sense of school pride. The School Dress Code also includes footwear, black leather shoes or black leather-type trainers with no logos or colour on them. All students in Years K3 and above are required to wear the approved school uniform every day. To download our School Uniform Guide, click here.
Each student is entitled to one full set of school uniform free of charge. This, and additional items, can be ordered via our online uniform platform here. Our online uniform platform is live throughout the year and enables families to order remotely and have uniform delivered to their home or school.
