Students Take to the Skies with Cross-cultural Learning

Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls in Argentina and Brazil
YCIS Beijing strongly believes that learning should always find ways to go beyond the confines of a classroom’s four walls. The World Classroom programme offers students the opportunity to explore other countries firsthand, allowing students to gain insight into and appreciation of other cultures and customs. This in turn allows them to become more internationally aware and discover how they themselves fit into our global community. This semester, Years 9 and 10 students travelled to South America and experienced the rich and lively cultures of Argentina and Brazil.

YCIS Beijing Primary Students Get Creative with Coding
YCIS Bejing prides itself on its commitment to align with innovative science and technology. Starting from March 19, in cooperation with Acode Tech Academy, the school has begun offering coding classes for technologically inclined Primary School students after class giving them the opportunity to harness the power of code by providing them a platform in which they can explore, create, and prepare for our future data-driven society.

Charitable Primary Students "Read to Feed" Chinese Farmers
During March, YCIS Beijing celebrated all things literature by holding a “Literacy Enrichment Week” for our students. One of the most impressive highlights of the week was our Primary School’s “Read to Feed” charity fundraiser. An event that encourages active reading while helping out a worthy cause, Primary School students greatly surpassed expectations by raising a whopping 23,912 RMB in a single week!

Philip Wilcox Captures Students Attention with Powerful Poetry
On March 17, YCIS Beijing was visited by award winning Australian performance poet Philip Wilcox. As the third author to speak to our students during the Bookworm Literary Festival, Philip captured everyone’s attention with his spoken word poetry, demonstrating that poetry doesn’t exist solely in books but is also a form of performance art.
