First Place for Our Math Madness Whizzes
This week, the Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s Secondary students won the “Math Madness” International High School Math Competition. Our school community is very proud of this victory, which came after several rounds of knockouts over a six-weeks period, which saw our Maths magicians compete against renowned international schools from around the world; finally going head-to-head with GEMS World Academy in the final round.
Embodying a YCIS Beijing Student
At Yew Chung International School of Beijing we strive for excellence in everything we do, be it from our staff or students. Our Primary School Student Council is one example of how this idea is put into practice. The student council, although there to reinforce the overall wellbeing of students on campus, also serves as a blueprint of how an exemplary YCIS Beijing student should be.
Developing Languages in ECE
On Tuesday, January 14th the Yew Chung International School of Beijing Early Childhood Education Coordinators, Maryanne Harper and her Chinese counterpart, Bridgett Ren presented a workshop to parents focusing on language development. The workshop highlighted several ways in which storytelling and reading can be used to develop language.
Handball Champions for the First Time
Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s boys’ Handball Team brought home the coveted first prize after competing in their very first handball competition on Tuesday and Wednesday. The girls’ team also participated for the first time at the 7th Annual BSB Handball Invite taking the third spot.
Peers Presenting Children’s Rights
After months of working hard on their Children's Rights PSAs (Public Service Announcements) inspired by the UNICEF “Going Blue” campaign, YCIS Beijing’s Lower Secondary students finally presented them to our Upper Primary counterparts today through interactive workshops with the aim to further raise awareness on Children’s Rights in our School community.
A Warm Welcome to All New Families
Tuesday, January 7th was our first day of school after a reviving winter break and the Yew Chung International School of Beijing welcomed almost 30 families from Hong Kong, Japan, the US, Greece, Pakistan and the United Kingdom to name a few; and all are a welcome addition to our mounting international community.
Creating An Ethic of Excellence
On Monday, January 6th the gates at the Yew Chung International School of Beijing opened for our staff to kick-start the second half the school year. To get the entire staff enthusiastic and motivated for the new semester, Mr. Mark Adams, our Regional Director, gave a workshop based on Ron Berger’s book, “An Ethic of Excellence”.
Celebrating the Year of the Rat
Rehearsals for the Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s Chinese New Year celebrations are underway and students are hard at work perfecting their performances for Wednesday, January 22nd in what will be a series of events and activities organized by Early Childhood Education, Primary and Secondary Schools divisions. This is in line with the school’s espousal of both Eastern and Western cultures
Merry Christmas From YCIS Beijing
As the first half of the 2019-20 school year is coming to an end, it is with pride that we look back at the many things that have been accomplished in the past months; from welcoming new staff members and families to our growing international community, to the many sports victories and academic achievements; to hosting multiple events such as our famed Welcome BBQ and Founder’s Day, Christmas Bazaar, the many parenting workshops, concerts, and Learning Celebrations.
