YCIS Beijing Rewind: IIIP’s Enchanting Instrumental Performance
The 2015 – 2016 academic year was filled with countless classes, activities, and events. During the summer break, we’re featuring a new series titled “YCIS Beijing Rewind,” which looks back at this past year and gives attention to various events and accomplishments that we didn’t get the chance to appreciate when they occurred. In this edition of “YCIS Beijing Rewind,” we take a look at the wonderful In-School Individual Instrumental Programme (IIIP) performance that our young virtuosos put on for parents, teachers, and fellow classmates in May.
The recital itself saw Primary School students of all ages (including a few guest performances by our Secondary Students) show off the impressive musical skills they acquired during their IIIP studies with over 70 individual and group performances over three sessions. Highlights of the day included Happy by Year one student Jaydon Chieng and Hey You by Taj Cunningham. From piano to drums, from violin to vocals, every instrumental performance enchanted the audience and left a strong impression on each and every one in attendance.
Since its inception in 2010, the IIIP has continued to grow with more and more students eager to receive one-on-one tutelage from over 10 specialised music teachers, each of whom are ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) qualified to teach music internationally. Through the IIIP, students are able to integrate instrumental study into their regular class schedule as well as use this study for university credit when applying to universities in the future. As study of musical instruments is proven to increase academic success and community involvement in students, YCIS Beijing is proud to support its students in developing their musical skills and nurturing this impactful hobby.
